Department of Zoology

                                  The Department of Zoology was established in 1984.The current Head of the Department Dr. Bhagyashri S. Madbhavikar along with the faculty members Dr. Baban U. Mane and Dr. Vinod Sutaone strives hard to achieve excellence in all aspects of the department. Through the generous support of the Parent Institution P.D.E.A.; S.P.P.U; DST-FIST program grant and DBT-STAR College Scheme grant, the department is equipped with a small museum, two small laboratories and a smart board for ICT based teaching. Also The Zoology department has established a small Apiary cum Butterfly garden and a virtual museum from the grants received from DBT scheme which are one of its kinds in the whole PDEA institution.  Since its existence, the department is credited for producing several students. Its alumni are doing exceptionally well as teachers and scientists at research laboratories. The current research work going on in the department is based on Biodiversity. The Department has been holding various workshops and guest lectures apart from other teaching courses to provide a platform for scientific exchanges.  Recently the Department had organized a workshop on First Year B.Sc. Zoology syllabus based on NEP-2020 in association with the Zoology Board of Studies, S.P.P.U. Pune so as to make the students skilled in various aspects of Applied Zoology. Apart from teaching and research, the Faculty members are making substantial contribution to the College system in various capacities. The Department has made remarkable strides during the past many years and is committed to continue to work hard for excellence in Science.
